The path to Mayanagari is open for the youth of Uttarakhand, Dhami government is giving scholarships worth lakhs!
Dehradun. The path to Mayanagari Mumbai is now going to be easy for the youth of Uttarakhand. The promising people of the hills who are dreaming of making a career in the world of film and cinema will no longer have to step back due to financial constraints. The Pushkar Singh Dhami government of the state has started turning the dreams of the youth into reality through its new film policy. With this initiative of the government, the students learning the nuances of film making have not only got huge financial support, but have also got a new flight to their spirits.
Actually, Uttarakhand Film Development Council has released scholarship amount to three promising youth of the state who have completed their studies from the country’s most prestigious film institute i.e. ‘Film and Television Institute, Pune’ (FTII). Under this, lakhs of rupees have been paid directly into the accounts of the students. After the implementation of Uttarakhand Film Policy 2024, it is being considered a big and practical step, which has started directly benefiting the youth at the grassroots level.
These three promising people got the benefit of the scheme
It is being told that the three youth to whom funds have been released for the first time under this scheme, belong to different hill districts of Uttarakhand. Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Uttarakhand Film Development Council, Banshidhar Tiwari has shared detailed information in this regard.
According to him, Praveen Semwal, a resident of Ukhimath in Rudraprayag district, has been given a scholarship of Rs 65,682 for his one-year post graduate certificate course. Whereas, Kavita, resident of Mundoli (Harni) village of Chamoli district, has been paid Rs 1,27,619 for the two-year PG diploma course. Apart from this, Devesh Bhatt, resident of Tallital, Nainital, has been given the highest scholarship of Rs 1,38,990 for his three-year post graduate diploma course. All three students have completed their education in different genres of cinema from FTII, Pune.
Know what is Uttarakhand Film Policy 2024 and its rules
In fact, the government has prepared this policy with this very purpose so that along with the people of Uttarakhand, the talents here can also get a global platform. According to the rules of the policy, students native to Uttarakhand doing film making, direction, acting or technical courses from any recognized and reputed institute of the country like FTII, Pune or Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute of Kolkata will be eligible.
This scholarship is given on the basis of merit after completion of the course and getting its certificate. In this, special care has also been taken of the socially and economically weaker sections. Under the rules, the government gives 75 percent of the expenses incurred on the entire course to the students coming from SC, ST and OBC categories. At the same time, up to 50 percent of the total expenditure is returned to the general category candidates in the form of scholarship.

On this special occasion, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami praised the youth of the state and said that the youth of Uttarakhand are rich in creative talent and have amazing skills. He said, “It is a continuous effort of the state government to provide excellent opportunities to the youth to hone their talent and create recognition at the national and international level. Uttarakhand Film Policy 2024 is a big step taken with this thinking. By giving scholarships to the youth of our state pursuing education in the film industry, we are giving a new flight to their dreams.”
Certainly, after this help of the government, when the youth of Uttarakhand step into the Bollywood or regional cinema world, they will be able to showcase their art without any financial mental pressure. Preparations are underway to add many more students through this policy in the coming days.
