Russia’s major air attack on Ukraine, 12 people killed; Electricity system affected in many cities

Moscow/Kiev. Amid the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine, on Monday Russia launched a massive attack on many areas of Ukraine with missiles and drones. According to Ukrainian officials, at least 12 people were killed in the attacks, while more than 40 were injured. Power supply was also affected due to damage to energy infrastructure in many areas.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky described the attacks as extremely serious, saying that civilians and critical infrastructure had been targeted. He appealed to the international community to further strengthen Ukraine’s air defense capability.

Heavy losses in Dnipro and southern regions

According to Ukrainian officials, a Russian missile targeted infrastructure in the city of Dnipro, killing six people and injuring 29 others.

Apart from this, a passenger mini bus was also hit during the drone attack in the southern region. Three people lost their lives in this incident, while six people including a child were injured.

  • Electricity supply affected in many areas

Energy infrastructure has been damaged due to continuous air strikes, causing power supply disruptions in many areas. The local administration is engaged in relief and repair work, while emergency services have been activated in the affected areas.

Zelensky appeals for additional help from Europe

Following the attacks President Zelensky urged European countries to accelerate the supply and development of modern air defense systems. He said there is an urgent need for an effective air defense system to protect civilians from the ever-increasing missile and drone attacks.

    United Nations expressed concern

More than 16,000 Ukrainian civilians have been killed since Russia launched a full-scale military operation in February 2022, according to the United Nations. The organization has consistently stressed the need to ensure the protection of civilians and comply with international humanitarian law.

Drone attacks changed the nature of war

Defense experts believe that the drone war between the two countries has intensified in recent months. According to analysts, Ukraine has targeted fuel and military supply bases in Russia and areas under its control through long-range drone strikes, increasing pressure on Russian logistics.

However, Russia has not officially confirmed any specific reason behind the latest attacks. Experts believe that both sides are now becoming more dependent than ever on drones and long-range precision weapons along with conventional military action, due to which the nature of war is constantly changing.
