UAE Visa Update: Visa deadline is about to end, improve your status by July 9 otherwise fine will be imposed
An important warning has come to those living in the UAE whose visas have expired. The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) has given the last chance till 9 July 2026. After this date, the rules will become strict and heavy fines for overstay may have to be paid.
ICP had given a grace period of 30 days for those who started from June 10, 2026 and is now ending on July 9, 2026. This facility is for those whose visas had expired due to disruption in flight services and closure of airspace. This problem started from 28 February 2026 due to which many people were not able to go out of the country.
These people will get benefit
The government has clarified that this grace period is only for certain categories. It includes the following people:
- People holding tourist and visit visas.
- Employment visa holders.
- People holding departure permits.
- Former residents whose visas were canceled but could not travel.
It is important to understand here that this is not a general amnesty which is for everyone. This is only for those who were stuck in the situations mentioned above.
fines and rules
If a person does not correct his status or leave the country by July 9, the old rules will come into effect again from July 10, 2026. According to current rules, there is a fine of 50 AED for every day after the visa expires. Apart from this, if someone overstays more than 30 days, he will have to take an exit permit (outpass) which costs 250 to 300 AED.
what to do now
Those who want to avail this facility do not need any separate application. Those who want to live in UAE will have to get their residency or employment status corrected as soon as possible. Those who want to go back can leave the country directly by adopting the exit process without any old penalty.
