Mumbai Rains: Heavy rain in Mumbai! Knee-deep water in Prabhadevi area; Citizens are in dire straits

Mumbai Rains : In the very first week, Varun Raja assumed a red form, and Mumbaikars were in dire straits, with ponds forming directly outside the Prabhadevi railway station; Citizens are now expressing their anger as the pre-monsoon preparations of the administration have been exposed in the very first rains.

Open the brass of the administration’s claims

Like every year, the Mumbai Municipal Corporation claimed to have spent crores of rupees on pre-monsoon drainage cleaning and repair of water pumping pumps. However, the fallacy of these claims has been exposed in the first week of monsoon. Prabhadevi railway station area and low-lying areas were turned into ponds after just a few hours of rain. As the ‘monsoon plan’ of the administration remains only on paper, the local citizens are now raising angry questions that where exactly this expenditure of crores of rupees has gone. Mumbai Rains

Passengers are in dire straits

Due to knee-deep water outside Prabhadevi railway station, commuters going to work in the morning were in dire straits. The passengers had to wait for their lives as the water was not predicted as soon as they came out of the station. There was a huge rush of passengers outside this very important station connecting the Central and Western Railways as the railway station area became a lake. Women, children and senior citizens have to wade through this stagnant water, causing intense anger among the citizens.

Local and road traffic stopped

The local service, which is considered the lifeline of Mumbai, was completely disrupted due to water logging on the railway tracks due to heavy rains. Local trains between Prabhadevi and nearby railway stations are running late by 15 to 20 minutes, causing heavy rush of passengers at the stations. On the other hand, the roads have also been flooded due to knee-deep water, causing traffic congestion. Long queues of vehicles have formed on the main roads and flyovers connecting Prabhadevi, leaving motorists and passengers stranded for hours. Mumbai Rains

Damage to local citizens and traders

Local residents and traders have been directly affected by water logging in the low-lying areas of Prabhadevi area. Traders suffered huge losses as the water from the streets seeped directly into the shops and ground floors of the houses. Due to waterlogging of expensive goods, electronic items and food grains kept in the shops, traders have suffered a financial loss of lakhs of rupees.

The next 48 hours are dangerous

The Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that the next 48 hours are very critical and dangerous for Mumbai and surrounding areas. Heavy rain is expected in Mumbai due to the formation of a low pressure area in the Arabian Sea. Against this background, the administration has appealed to the citizens living in the low-lying areas to be vigilant. Clear instructions have been given that citizens should go out of their homes only if there is absolutely necessary work, and also follow the official instructions of the municipal corporation without believing any kind of rumours.
