Scored runs in IPL, still the door of Team India did not open, when will Vaibhav Suryavanshi get a chance to debut?

New Delhi . The international debut of Vaibhav Suryavanshi, one of the most popular young batsmen of Indian cricket, has been postponed once again. Even in the first match of the five-match T20 series against England, the team management did not include him in the playing eleven. As soon as captain Shreyas Iyer announced the playing eleven at Chester-le-Street, the hopes of crores of Indian cricket fans got a blow as Vaibhav’s name was not included in it. After not getting a chance in the second consecutive series, now the question has become more acute that how much longer will this young batsman have to wait to make his debut for the Indian team.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi has been in the headlines for the last few months due to his performance. In IPL 2026, he batted explosively for Rajasthan Royals and scored 776 runs in 16 innings and won the Orange Cap by scoring the most runs in the entire tournament. His strike rate was also more than 237 which impressed the cricket experts. Apart from this, he was chosen Player of the Tournament in the Under-19 World Cup, whereas recently, while playing for India A, he presented another brilliant example of his talent by scoring 94 runs on just 29 balls in the final of the tri-series in Sri Lanka.

Despite such excellent performance, not getting a place in the playing eleven of Team India remains a topic of discussion. Earlier also during the Ireland tour, he had to sit out both the T20 matches. In that series, the Indian top order could not live up to the expectations and the team had to face defeat. After this, it was believed that Vaibhav would definitely get a chance on the England tour but the team management thought it better to trust the experienced players.

  • Many former cricket legends had already indicated that Vaibhav’s debut would not happen immediately. He believed that the team management wants to give a chance to the young batsman at the right time so that there is no extra pressure on him. However, fans argue that when a player is consistently performing well in domestic cricket, IPL and junior level, he should also get an opportunity to prove himself at the international level.

Batting coach Sitanshu Kotak has already clarified that the final decision will be taken as per the strategy of head coach Gautam Gambhir and captain Shreyas Iyer. In such a situation, it is clear that the decision as to when Vaibhav will get a chance will depend on the plans of the team management. At present, the Indian team decided to enter the field in the first match with Sanju Samson, Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan, Shreyas Iyer, Tilak Verma, Shivam Dubey, Akshar Patel, Harshit Rana, Ravi Bishnoi, Arshdeep Singh and Varun Chakraborty.

The wait may be getting longer for Vaibhav Suryavanshi, but both his age and performance indicate that the future is completely in his favor. If he continues to score runs like this and maintain consistency in his game, then his debut in the Indian team will only be a matter of time. Now all eyes will be on the next matches against England where Indian cricket might get a chance to see its new young star playing in the blue jersey for the first time.
