Although there are no major national holidays this month, schools may remain closed in different states due to some religious and regional occasions. In such a situation, families can easily make their plans if they have advance information.

When can you get holidays in July? School Holidays

Most schools will operate as per the regular schedule in July 2026. This month students will get weekly holidays mainly on Saturday and Sunday. Apart from this, in some states holidays can also be declared on the occasion of local and religious festivals.

Rath Yatra holiday on 16th July

The festival of Rath Yatra will be celebrated on 16th July. On this occasion, holiday can be declared in schools in some states and regions including Odisha, Jharkhand, Delhi. However, the final decision on leave will depend on the notification of the concerned state government or local administration.

Guru Purnima on 29th July

Schools are likely to remain closed in many areas of Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh on the occasion of Guru Purnima on July 29. The status of holidays in different states will be decided as per local orders.

Shaheed Udham Singh Martyrdom Day on 31st July

School holidays can be declared in Punjab, Haryana and some surrounding areas on the occasion of Martyrdom Day of Shaheed Udham Singh on 31st July.
