Funeral after 126 days! Why is Khamenei’s funeral so late? Where was the body?
Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran’s supreme religious leader, was killed in a joint attack by America and Israel. Iran has organized his funeral in Tehran 126 days after the incident on February 28, the day Iran war started. Khamenei’s remains have already arrived in Tehran.
Naturally, the question arises, why Khamenei has not been buried even after four months of death! The question is also raised where his body was kept for so long. It is good to say that such a delay is quite unusual according to Islamic customs. This delay is indicative of the extreme and unusual situation Iran was going through after his death. After his death, America and Israel bombarded Iran continuously for several weeks.
At this time there was a rumor that Khamenei’s body had been temporarily buried. But the Iranian administration claims that Khamenei’s body was preserved in accordance with religious rules. It should be noted that Islam generally does not approve of chemical preservation or ’embalming’. It is known that the body has been preserved in the freezer. Not in a chemical process. Because chemical preservation is not allowed in Islam. Iran’s religious leaders said Shia law allows delays in burials and mortuary storage in special circumstances. Moreover, it is easy to get such special religious sanction in the case of the highest religious leader.
Incidentally, state mourning and last respects have begun at the Imam Khomeini Grand Mosalla Complex in the heart of Tehran. There, the coffin of the dead leader is kept in the main prayer room. So that international guests and dignitaries can pay their respects to him. Apart from two representatives of the Government of India, an all-party delegation comprising top political leaders of the country is also visiting Tehran at the official invitation of Iran. Former foreign minister and veteran Congress leader Salman Khurshid went to Tehran instead of Congress president Mallikarjun Kharag.
