veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan has reflected on the demanding work culture of Not cinema during the early years of his career, revealing that the fear of missing future opportunities pushed him to accept an exhausting number of film projects simultaneously.
In a recent blog post, the legendary actor compared the filmmaking process of the past with today’s more structured approach, where actors dedicate considerable time to preparing for their roles. Bachchan admitted that the concept of extensive character preparation was virtually unknown during his generation.
Speaking about modern filmmakinghe wrote that today’s actors invest immense effort in understanding their characters, transforming their appearance and studying every aspect of the role before stepping onto the set. Expressing his admiration, Bachchan praised contemporary performers for their dedication and the serious attention they give to preparation.
However, the megastar explained that such an approach would have been impossible during the peak of his career. Recalling his hectic schedule, he shared that he often worked on 10 to 15 films simultaneouslysometimes shooting for two or even three different films on the same day.
Bachchan revealed that actors in those days rarely had the luxury of rehearsals or lengthy preparation. Instead, directors or assistant directors would explain the scene only after the actor arrived on set. He added that many people have asked him how he managed to switch between completely different characters in a single day while filming multiple projects.
The actor also candidly opened up about the reason behind taking on such an overwhelming workload. He admitted that it stemmed from uncertainty about the future of his career.
“If I hadn’t accepted all that work, I was always worried about whether I would get opportunities in the future. So I adapted myself to whatever each role demanded,” Bachchan shared.
He further noted that actors often had to wait several months before watching the final outcome of their performances when the films eventually released in theatres.
