Mahesh Bhatt, the veteran director of Hindi cinema, has announced a big decision regarding his directorial career. After directing 47 films in a long journey of nearly five decades, he has made it clear that he will never hold the role of a director again. However, he expressed his desire to be active in film and theater production as a producer. He said that this decision was taken due to the changes in the way of film production in the changing times.

‘The artist has no freedom left’
In an interview with ‘Hindustan Times’, Mahesh Bhatt was asked whether he would like to direct again. To which he emphatically replied, “No.” Explaining the reason behind his decision, he said, “The content and direction of films today is already decided. The pressure to create content within a certain framework has increased. In such a situation, the big question is how much scope is left for the artist’s creativity.” He also regretted that in the current film industry, the opportunity for the director to present his thoughts independently is decreasing.
However, he clarified that he is not disappointed about the Hindi film industry. He expressed his belief that even today there are plenty of opportunities to tell good and meaningful stories.

Gave many amazing films to Indian cinema
Mahesh Bhatt, who made his directorial debut in 1974, gave many famous and memorable films like ‘Artha’, ‘Saaransh’, ‘Aashiqui’. His films have seen powerful depictions of personal experiences, social realities and relationships. Along with brother Mukesh Bhatt, he founded ‘Vishesh Films’. Successful films like ‘Raj’, ‘Murder’ and ‘Jism’ were produced under this banner. Not only this, Mahesh Bhatt is also credited with giving many actors like Anupam Kher, Kangana Ranaut and Emraan Hashmi big opportunities in Hindi cinema.

Mahesh Bhatt’s daughter Alia Bhatt is one of the most successful actresses in Bollywood today.
