Funeral program of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei begins in Iran, India presents Khiraj-e-Aqidat
Tehran: Iran is holding a week-long funeral ceremony to pay tribute to late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Lakhs of people are expected to participate in it. The funeral procession will begin on July 4, culminating with his burial in the holy city of Mashhad on July 9. Mashhad is also Khamenei’s hometown. Earlier on Friday, the bodies of Ali Khamenei and several members of his family were brought to Imam Khomeini Grand Mosala Mosque, where people were seen paying homage to them.

Religious leaders who arrived from India on Friday also paid tribute to the Supreme Leader of Iran. The Iranian Embassy in India has posted its picture on social media. In this, saffron clad Hindus and turban clad Sikh religious gurus were seen paying homage. Apart from religious leaders, politicians and civil society delegation also paid tribute to Khamenei. Former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Mehbooba Mufti and Congress leader Salman Khurshid also presented Khiraj-e-Aqidat. Christian and Hindu religious gurus were also seen with him.

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran’s supreme leader for more than three decades, was killed on February 28, the first day of the US-Israeli attack against Iran, sparking a major conflict in the region. Now after four months, Iran has started the process of Khamenei’s funeral.

Grand preparations for the program in Iran
No stone has been left unturned to make it grand. Preparations for this were going on in full swing in the Iranian media for more than 10 days. The day Iran has chosen to launch the program is being seen as a signal to America. America celebrates its Independence Day on 4th July.

Khamenei’s funeral program

4-6 July- Ali Khamenei’s funeral program will start from Tehran on 4 July. Khamenei’s body will be kept at the Grand Mossala prayer complex for public viewing. On July 6, a large procession will be taken out on the streets of Tehran, in which millions of people are expected to participate.
July 7- After this the funeral procession will go to the holy city of Kom. The city of Qom, located about 140 kilometers southwest of Tehran, is the center of Shia Islamic scholarship in Iran.
July 8- This procession will also go to the historical and holy cities of Najaf and Karbala in Iran’s neighboring country Iraq.
July 9 – Ali Khamenei will be buried at the Shrine of Imam Reza in his hometown of Mashhad.
According to Iranian media reports, 15 to 20 million people are expected to attend the 6-day program for the funeral of the late leader. In view of the possibility of huge crowd, the authorities have issued a high alert.
