Will Telangana become Karnataka? Understand from the figures how BJP is spreading its foothold?

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president Nitin Naveen was on a three-day tour of Telangana from June 28 to June 30 last month. During this, he held organizational meetings with state leaders and officials. He also addressed a rally. The purpose of this visit of Nitin Naveen was to strengthen the BJP organization in Telangana. Actually, BJP’s eyes are on the upcoming 2028 assembly elections, for which the party is sharpening its preparations.

The BJP president met party leaders, district officials, booth level workers, students and tribal community leaders in Hyderabad and elsewhere. The importance of Naveen’s visit can be gauged from the fact that he told the party workers that it is not enough to merely criticize the Congress government, but the organization will have to be strengthened up to the booth level so that BJP can come to power in Telangana.

Telangana Political-Economic Importance

Telangana is one of the most important states of South India from political point of view. The 119-member state has 17 Lok Sabha MPs. Apart from this, the economy of Telangana is Rs 3,24,234 crore. This is the reason why BJP, after enjoying the pleasure of power in Karnataka, wants to bloom in Telangana also. Apart from Karnataka, BJP has never had a government in any state. In Kerala and Tamil Nadu, the party has been trying hard to form governments for decades but has never been successful.

Telangana is the newest state of India

However, BJP is partnering in the government in Andhra Pradesh with its ally TDP. Telangana is the newest state of India. It was formed in 2014 by the then Congress government. After the formation of the state, it is the Congress government under the leadership of Revanth Reddy. Before this, Telangana Rashtra Samithi government was in power for 10 consecutive years. Congress had defeated K Chandrashekhar Rao’s government in the 2023 assembly elections. Now Congress is in power but now BJP is also working hard to sit on the throne of Telangana.

Last 15 years of protest in Telangana

But, if we look at the performance of Bharatiya Janata Party in Telangana in the last 15 years, it has made a lot of progress here. Or we can say that since the formation of Telangana state, BJP was somewhat strong here. In the first assembly elections of 2014, the saffron party had contested the elections under the leadership of K Laxman. In that election, BJP got 7.10 percent votes, due to which its 5 MLAs were successful in winning.

BJP’s performance in 2018

After this, BJP’s performance in the 2018 assembly elections was less than the last time. The party got only 6.98 percent votes. Only one of its MLAs reached the assembly after winning. Taking a lesson from this defeat, BJP first started strengthening its organization in Telangana, so that its ideology could be spread in the state. Recently, Nitin Naveen’s visit was also to strengthen this organization.

BJP prepared its ground in 2023

With a strong organization, BJP contested the 2023 assembly elections under the leadership of Union Minister G Kishan Reddy. BJP has given the best performance so far in this election. This time the vote share of the saffron party increased to double that of the last time and it got 13.90 percent votes. Talking in numbers, BJP got a total of 1,450,456 votes in 2018. But, in 2023, 3,257,528 people voted for him. Due to this, BJP got 8 seats in the state, due to which it got strength in the assembly.

Now assembly elections are to be held in Telangana in the year 2028. BJP has already started preparations for the elections because here it has to face not only Congress but also former CM K Chandrashekhar Rao and his party Bharat Rashtra Samiti.
