Government Removes BAT BMS App From Play Store: For the last few days, the name of an app was continuously discussed on social media. In the viral video, it was reportedly seen that some people were harassing e-rickshaw drivers just for fun. Such incidents not only affect the livelihood of drivers, but also raise serious questions regarding road safety. Considering the seriousness of the matter, the Central Government has taken a big step and issued instructions to remove this app from Google Play Store and Apple App Store.
e-rickshaw drivers Why did it become a matter of concern?
E-rickshaw drivers say that they had to face embarrassment in front of passengers due to sudden stoppage of the vehicle. Many times, rickshaws stopping on busy roads would lead to traffic jams and increase the risk of accidents. Drivers were unable to understand whether there was a technical fault in the vehicle or whether someone had done this intentionally. With this decision of the government, it is now expected that such cases will be stopped.
In view of security, the government took Decision
The Ministry of Information Technology (IT) decided to remove the app from the App Store after reviewing its security and data protection aspects. The government believes that it is necessary to take timely action on such technology, which can be misused to harm people’s safety or livelihood. The government’s focus is to promote safe and reliable digital technology and not platforms that can be used to harass others.
What is BAT BMS App and how does it work?
BAT BMS App is developed by Shenzhen Grenergy Technology. It is basically a mobile app built for Battery Management System (BMS). It connects to the lithium battery via Bluetooth and displays information like battery charging, voltage, temperature, current and battery health. How did the alleged misuse of technology happen?
According to the information, some people allegedly started misusing the Bluetooth connectivity of this app. If the battery of an e-rickshaw was compatible with this app and was within Bluetooth range, an attempt was made to switch off the vehicle by connecting to it. After this, such videos were uploaded on social media, due to which this matter quickly came into discussion. However, this did not apply to all e-rickshaws or all batteries, but was only possible on batteries that worked with this system.

After removing the app from major app stores, it is expected that such incidents will reduce. This will provide relief to e-rickshaw drivers from unnecessary trouble and will also improve the safety of passengers on the road. This case also reminds us that it is important to use any technology responsibly. If misused, it can become a threat rather than a convenience.
