‘Raipur airport is built on my land!’ Farmer filed claim of Rs 3500 crore in Supreme Court

A very shocking case has come to light from Chhattisgarh. Ashwini Bandhe, a 53-year-old farmer living here, has approached the Supreme Court. His claim is so big that anyone can lose their senses after hearing it. Ashwini says that the land on which Raipur’s luxurious Swami Vivekananda Airport and its terminal building stands today, actually belongs to her ancestors. According to the farmer, during the Second World War, in the year 1942, the British Government had temporarily occupied this land to meet the needs of the army. There was a promise that the land would be returned as soon as the war ended, but this never happened.

35 years of going to court for justice

In this fight for his rights, Ashwini Bandhe has been scouring the courts for the last 35 years. He did not give up and collected evidence by visiting government record rooms, libraries and other big departments across the country. He clearly says that these documents testify that the British did not take this land forever. You will be surprised to know that in this long legal battle, this farmer has lost around Rs 15 to 20 crores like water.

Demand for huge compensation of Rs 3500 crore

Quoting old files and documents, it has been told that at that time about 30 acres 18 decimal land of Bandhe family was taken to build Mana Airfield. In return for this, it was decided that the family would be given a rent of Rs 1300 every year. But neither did they get the rent nor did they get their ancestral land back after the war ended. On this strong basis, the farmer has now submitted a demand for a huge compensation of Rs 3500 crore in the Supreme Court. At present this case is going on in the biggest court of the country and no final decision has come yet.

The biggest secret revealed from government documents

Ashwini Bandhe told that the Defense of India Act was abolished in the year 1946. After this, a new law came in 1952, in which the responsibility of these lands was divided among different government departments. The farmer’s direct allegation is that his family’s rights were completely crushed in this entire misappropriation. Luckily, recently during an exhibition of the Culture Department of Raipur, he got hold of many important and old government documents related to Mana Airfield. This unique claim has surprised everyone as to how a single farmer has been fighting for his rights on the Raipur Airport land for 35 years.

After receiving these valuable documents, the farmer has also got certified copies of them under the Public Service Guarantee Act. Ashwini believes that this new evidence will further strengthen her claim in the Supreme Court. On the other hand, officials of the Culture Department have also agreed that files related to land acquisition and names of many farmers are present in their old records. However, no definite comment has been made by the department regarding the actual ownership of the land.
