“The Session will commence on 20 July, 2026 and continue till 13 August, 2026 for meaningful debate, discussion and decisions on issues of national importance,” the minister said.
Key Legislative Business Expected
The upcoming session is expected to be politically significant, with the government likely to make another attempt to introduce and secure passage of a Constitution Amendment Bill aimed at implementing 33 per cent reservation for women in the Lok Sabha and state legislative assemblies.
According to reports, the proposed legislation seeks a uniform 50 per cent increase in the strength of the Lok Sabha and state assemblies to facilitate the implementation of women’s reservation without reducing the number of existing constituencies.
Focus on National Issues
Besides the government’s legislative agenda, the Monsoon Session is expected to feature debates on major national issues, with both the Treasury and Opposition benches likely to raise key policy, governance and public interest matters.
The session will run for 25 days, providing Parliament with an opportunity to deliberate on pending bills and other legislative business.
