One of the major residential solar projects of Delhi, this plant will set an example for clean energy, energy self-reliance and environment protection.

Delhi government is encouraging solar energy by giving subsidy of more than Rs 1 lakh to domestic consumers.
New Delhi: On Saturday, Delhi Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta inaugurated a 500 KW capacity solar power plant at Air Force and Naval Officers Enclave in Dwarka Sector-7 of Palam Assembly. This plant will meet the power requirements of approximately 375 households from clean and renewable energy. This is an important step towards promoting green energy in Delhi.
On this occasion, South Delhi MP Shri Ramveer Singh Bidhuri, Palam MLA Shri Kuldeep Solanki, former MLA Shri Dharam Dev Solanki and other distinguished citizens and officials were present. The Chief Minister said that under the visionary leadership of Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, India is moving towards global leadership in the field of solar energy. Solar energy is being promoted on a large scale to achieve the goals of energy self-sufficiency, environmental protection and sustainable development. Delhi government is also working with the same determination.
The Chief Minister said that the Delhi government is encouraging domestic consumers to adopt rooftop solar by giving a combined subsidy of more than Rs 1 lakh under the schemes of the Center and the State. He appealed to the people to adopt solar energy and reduce electricity bills. This 500 KW solar plant is one of the largest residential solar projects in the capital. Its cost is approximately Rs 2 crore, of which a subsidy of Rs 90 lakh has been received from the Central Government and Rs 10 lakh from the Delhi Government. With its commencement, the monthly electricity expenditure of the enclave will reduce from approximately Rs 12 lakh to Rs 6 lakh, which will result in savings of approximately Rs 72 lakh every year.
The Chief Minister said that this project is not only a means of energy saving, but is also an excellent example of the collective responsibility of the society towards environmental protection. He appreciated the residents of Air Force and Naval Officers Enclave who have set an inspiring example for the society by adopting clean energy in their premises. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that the Delhi government’s aim is to make the capital a clean, green and energy efficient city. For this, solar energy, energy efficiency and environment friendly technologies are being promoted. He said that this project will also become an inspiration for other residential societies, institutions and commercial complexes and will give a new impetus to the expansion of solar energy in Delhi.
