Debate begins on taking law into one’s hands
After the video went viral, people’s opinion is divided on social media. Some users say that theft is a crime and strict action should be taken against the culprits, but it is not right to take the law into one’s own hands. Many people on social media termed the beating by the mob as extremely violent and raised questions whether it is right to beat an accused like this.
Some other users also supported the mob’s action. According to legal experts, it is the job of the police and justice system to take action against a person suspected of committing a crime. In such cases, mob violence may itself become a separate legal offence.
