The miscreant who snatched the purse from the family returning from Vaishno Devi arrested, stolen scooter recovered

The DBG Road team of Delhi Police station has arrested notorious snatcher Rajan (26) while revealing the case of purse snatching from a family returning from Vaishno Devi. Police have also recovered the stolen scooter used in the crime from his possession. This scooter was stolen from Nabi Karim police station area.

There were 25 thousand rupees in cash in the purse.

According to the police, on June 25, 2026, a family was booking a cab at the bus stand near Sarai Rohilla Railway Station. Meanwhile, two miscreants who came on a scooter snatched the woman’s handbag and ran away. 25 thousand rupees in cash, mobile phone, copy of Aadhar card and SBI credit card were kept in the bag. An FIR was registered in the DBG Road police station and investigation was started.

Scooter theft case also investigated

During the investigation, the police team examined the footage of several CCTV cameras in and around the incident site. Through technical analysis, the number of the scooter used in the crime was revealed. Investigation revealed that the scooter had already been stolen from Nabi Karim police station area. After this, the police also investigated the case of scooter theft and analyzed CCTV footage of various places. During investigation, the accused was identified as Rajan, resident of Multani Dhanda, Paharganj, who is an active ‘Bad Character (BC)’ of Police Station Nabi Karim.

Purse shared with partner snatching

The police conducted continuous raids in search of the accused, but he was found absconding. With the help of local informers and technical surveillance, he was finally arrested on the night of 4/5 July. On his information, the stolen scooter used in the crime was also recovered. During interrogation, Rajan admitted to carrying out the snatching incident along with another of his associates. The police is now busy in searching for the absconding co-accused along with recovering the looted bag, mobile phone, cash and other documents. According to the police, about 28 criminal cases including snatching, theft and NDPS Act are already registered against the accused Rajan in various police stations of Delhi.
