Google Maps New Feature: The hassle of finding restaurants and discounts is over! Now Google Maps will automatically order food for you, know how it will work
If you also use Google Maps to find your way to a new city, then now this app is going to do something for you which you might not have even imagined. The work of spending hours searching through food delivery apps on smartphones, searching for restaurants and discount coupons is about to end forever. Google Maps is bringing such a revolutionary update, after which this app will be able to order food for you on its own.
Big hints found in Android code, will be announced soon
This new feature of Google Maps can prove to be a game changer in the future. According to a recent report by ‘Android Authority’, some very special clues have been found in the backend code of the new Android beta version (26.27.00.941319029) of Google Maps. Lines like ‘ask maps food ordering promo’ have been seen in the source code of the app. This clearly shows that Google is working rapidly on this AI-based feature and can soon announce it officially and give promotional offers to the users.
How will AI order food for you?
However, Google has not yet made any official announcement regarding this feature, so the exact way of its working has not been fully revealed. Tech experts believe that this feature will be equipped with Google’s advanced AI ‘Gemini AI’. Users will be able to order food from their saved or favorite restaurants directly from Google Maps via voice command or text and AI will place the order through the delivery partner in the backend.
Cloud AI or on-device? Many questions are arising
Even though this feature sounds amazing and convenient, many questions are being raised in the tech world regarding its functioning:
Processing Mode: It is not yet clear whether this work of ordering food will be done by Gemini AI present on the cloud or the on-device hardware of the smartphone will be used for this.
Payment Security: It is a matter of relief that Google will not take any risk in money transactions. AI will not be able to automatically deduct money from your account, the user will have to do the final payment approval himself from his phone.
Experts’ concerns regarding privacy and security
Along with this new update, some technical experts have also expressed concerns regarding privacy:
Data Tracking: After this feature is activated, Google will have complete data about your eating habits, favorite food and budget.
Sponsored Restaurant Games: Some experts also believe that Gemini AI can show you more options of restaurants that sponsor advertisements to Google instead of your favorite outlet.
Fear of account hacking: If for some reason your Google account gets hacked, hackers can also place fake orders by misusing your address and mapped credentials.
