Ali Khamenei’s last journey today, crowd of crores gathered in Iran, high alert issued for stampede

New Delhi: The last journey of former Supreme Leader of Iran Ali Khamenei is being taken out today on Monday. The largest crowd so far is expected to gather in the country’s capital Tehran during this visit. Millions of people are reaching the Central Mosque of Tehran, where the mortal remains of Ali Khamenei and his family members have been kept for the last glimpse.

biggest challenge

The biggest challenge facing the Iranian administration at this time is maintaining law and order and security. The government is trying its best to ensure that the painful incident of history, which happened in 1989 during the funeral of the country’s first Supreme Leader, is not repeated.

scene of 1989

In 1989, during the funeral of Iran’s first Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, an uncontrolled crowd of about 10 million people gathered. At that time, people in mourning surrounded the hearse from all sides, due to which the cloth of Khomeini’s shroud was torn and his body fell on the ground. The situation had become so uncontrollable that the administration had to take the help of a helicopter to lift the body. More than 10 people lost their lives and more than 10,000 were injured in that stampede.

Strict security arrangements

Even on Sunday, when thousands of people reached the Grand Mosalla Mosque, huge concrete walls were erected between the coffins and the general public to prevent the stampede. This last journey, starting at 6 am on Monday, will last for about 10 to 12 hours in the entire city. The administration has not yet clarified how close the common people will be allowed to go to the coffin.

How did Khamenei die?

This funeral is also a demonstration of its strength for Iran. In fact, on February 28, Ali Khamenei and four members of his family were killed in US and Israeli air strikes, after which the war continued for five weeks. Through this crowd, Iran wants to show the world that it is standing strong even after this crisis.

New supreme leader Mojtaba still missing

New supreme leader Mojtaba is still missing. According to the schedule, after Tehran, programs will be held in the religious city of Qom on Tuesday and in Iraq’s holy cities Najaf and Karbala on Wednesday. After this, he will be laid to rest on Thursday in Khamenei’s native city Mashhad. On Sunday, Khamenei’s three sons appeared in public for the first time, but his most famous son, Mojtaba Khamenei, has not yet appeared in public, which has given rise to many questions.
