Video of paragliding takeoff goes viral, questions raised again on the safety of adventure sports

Adventure Sports India: The craze for adventure activities like paragliding, bungee jumping, river rafting and zipline is continuously increasing in India. Especially in hilly and tourist places, a large number of tourists come to experience these activities. However, accidents occurring from time to time have also raised questions on safety standards and accountability of operators.

Now a video that went viral on social media platform X has once again brought this issue into discussion. In the video, a young man and a paragliding operator are seen trying to take off from the hill, but due to strong wind and difficult conditions, they are unable to take off successfully and fall into a nearby bush area.

Video of paragliding takeoff goes viral

This video was shared on X with an account named @iNikhilsaini. The post claimed that the adventure sports sector in India is still not adequately regulated and in many places such businesses are being operated without strict monitoring. The post said the flight was attempted even though the weather and takeoff conditions already appeared risky.

After the video went viral, many users raised questions whether adequate safety standards, regular inspections and licensing regime are in place for such operators. However, the location and circumstances of the incident seen in the viral video have not been independently confirmed.

Questions raised on the safety of adventure sports

The video evoked mixed reactions from social media users. Some people said that there should be strict adherence to safety rules in adventure sports and no operator should be allowed without proper training or standards. At the same time, some users said that such accidents are not limited to India only and accidents happen during adventure sports in many countries of the world too.

Many sought better security arrangements and regular monitoring, citing the example of popular paragliding destinations like Manali. At the same time, some users said that they consider it better to stay away from such risky games, even if for this they are called ‘cowardly’. Why not say it?
