Now women of Bihar will be even more safe, government took a big decision

A very relieving news has emerged for the women of Bihar. The state government has taken a big decision keeping in mind the safety and respect of women. Now the government is going to make a major change in the system of ‘one stop centres’ to provide a safer environment to women who are victims of domestic violence or any kind of harassment. The direct objective of this initiative is that women in crisis can easily get all the necessary services like security, legal help, medical facilities and counseling under one roof.

Now ‘female guards’ will take charge for security

The biggest and important scheme of the government is to deploy women security guards in all these centres. Till now, at many centres, men used to do guard duty at night, due to which the victimized women felt very uncomfortable staying there. Now after the appointment of women guards, the security system will not only be more strict, but it will also become more sensitive and trustworthy for the victimized women.

61 centers will be made more modern

At present 61 ‘One Stop cum Sakhi Centres’ are working in Bihar. The government is preparing to make the security of all these 61 centers more modern and women-friendly. After the implementation of the new system, whenever women suffering from violence come here to seek help, they will find a safer and more relaxed environment than before.

Staying at night will now be even easier

It was often seen that despite the provision of five beds each in these centres, women were reluctant to spend the night there due to fear of safety, due to which they had to be sent to other shelter homes or Shanti Kutir. But now after the deployment of women guards, these centers will be fully prepared for safe night stay, so that women will not have to wander.

Women’s confidence will increase through special training

The Social Welfare Department plans that the women guards who will be deployed at these centers will be specially trained. These guards will not only handle security but will also deal with women sensitively in times of crisis. It will also be their responsibility to provide them the necessary support and boost the morale of women in distress.

All kinds of help will be available under one roof

The basic objective of these one stop centers is that women do not have to visit different offices. Here, victimized women get police assistance, legal advice, medical help, psychological counseling and temporary shelter—all at one place. The government is now working with full force towards making these services even more effective and accessible.
