Not only this, in the list of all the currently playing players, he is only the second player to achieve this position after the legendary Novak Djokovic. This performance of Sinner makes him one of the best contenders for the title this year.

Mochizuki gave a tough challenge

Although the scoreline showed a straight sets victory, Japan’s Shintaro Mochizuki gave Sinner a lot of trouble on the court. At the beginning of the match, Mochizuki adopted an aggressive stance and tried to put pressure on Sinner. He also got the first break point, but Sinner showed his class and made a quick comeback and won the first set 6-3. The match became even more exciting in the second set. Mochizuki engaged Sinner in long rallies with his serve and backhand, due to which Sinner looked a bit disappointed. Heading into the quarterfinals, the game reached a 4-4 tie, but Sinner did not lose his composure.

Sinner’s ‘clean sweep’ in tie-break

At one point during the second set, Sinner left the court for a while and when he returned, there was a new energy in his game and a good performance. When the set reached a tie-break, Sinner did not give Mochizuki any chance. They completely strengthened their hold on the match by winning the tie-break by a margin of 7-0. Even in the third set, Sinner maintained his rhythm and won the match by winning the set 6-3.

Sinner praised his opponent fiercely

After winning the match, Jannik Sinner praised the game of his opponent Mochizuki. He said that since it was their first time playing against each other, they did not know what to expect. Sinner admitted that it was very difficult to play Mochizuki on this surface. He said, ‘It is amazing to come from the qualifiers and play at such a high level, they should be proud of themselves.’ Expressing satisfaction over his win, Sinner said that he is trying to improve his performance every day.
