Army Chief meets President Murmu, emphasis on modern and self-reliant army
New Delhi. Indian Army Chief General Dheeraj Seth paid a courtesy call on the President of India and Supreme Commander of the three Services Draupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Monday. During this time his wife Komal Seth was also present. This was his first formal meeting with the President after assuming the charge of Army Chief, which is being considered an important part of the traditional dialogue established between the military leadership and the highest constitutional post of the nation.
During this meeting held at Rashtrapati Bhavan, General Dheeraj Seth greeted the President. This meeting is considered important towards further strengthening the institutional relations and military traditions between the Indian Army and Rashtrapati Bhavan. The President is the Supreme Commander of the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force and from time to time interacts with the military leadership on issues related to national security and defense preparedness.
General Dheeraj Seth, who comes from the Armored Corps, has recently taken charge as the 31st Chief of the Army Staff of the Indian Army. Before this he had served as Deputy Army Chief. After assuming charge, he has set the priority of preparing the Indian Army for future challenges through modern technology, Artificial Intelligence (AI), indigenous defense production and better coordination between the three services.
Earlier on July 2, General Dheeraj Seth had also paid a courtesy call on Defense Minister Rajnath Singh. Under his vision ‘Vijay’ he aims to build an Indian Army with technology-enabled, self-reliant and joint military capability, while his guiding mantra is ‘Jai Se Vijay’.
