Ayodhya Ram Mandir Donation Theft Case: Resignations of Champat Rai and Anil Mishra accepted, Krishna Mohan made interim general secretary of Ram Mandir Trust


New Delhi. In the meeting held today of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, the resignation of General Secretary Champat Rai and member Anil Mishra was accepted unanimously. Questions were being raised on Champat Rai after the case of theft of offerings from Ayodhya Ram temple came to light. Because of this, Champat Rai and Anil Mishra resigned on June 26 on ethical grounds. Now Krishna Mohan has been made the interim general secretary of the trust in place of Champat Rai. Krishna Mohan was till now a member of the temple trust and on the basis of his complaint, the police had registered a named FIR against 8 people including Ramashankar alias Tinnu Yadav in the offering theft case. In the press conference after the Trust meeting, Kakabhushundi, necklace, charan-paduka and gold-plated Ramcharit Manas, which was alleged to be missing, were also shown.

Krishna Mohan, who comes from Dalit community, is originally a resident of Chandrapur village of Shahabad assembly constituency of Hardoi district. He has been an Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer of Maharashtra cadre. After the death of Kameshwar Chaupal, Krishna Mohan was made a member of the Ram Mandir Trust in the year 2025. Krishna Mohan is also the ‘Kshetra Sangh Chalak’ (area in-charge) of the RSS for the eastern Uttar Pradesh region. Krishna Mohan has been active in social service work since his retirement in 2012.

On receiving the responsibility of the post of interim general secretary of the temple trust, Krishna Mohan expressed his priorities. He said that my first priority will be that whoever is found guilty in the offering theft case, we will try to ensure that all of them are punished in a just manner. All of us Ram devotees are hurt by this episode and somewhere there were some shortcomings in the management which people took advantage of. It will be my endeavor to remove whatever shortcomings there are so that such incidents do not happen again in future. This incident has awakened a feeling of distrust in the Trust in the society, I will try that all of us trustees will re-establish the trust.
