Murali Karthik came out in support of Ravi Bishnoi, said – ‘Nobody has changed Bumrah and Malinga either’
Delhi:Indian leg spinner Ravi Bishnoi’s performance in the second T20 match played against England in Manchester was very disappointing. He gave away 60 runs in his four overs and could not take a single wicket. India had to face defeat in this match and England took the lead in the five-match series.
Bishnoi was heavily criticized after the match, but former Indian spinner Murali Karthik has come out in his support. Karthik believes that Bishnoi has immense talent and with some small technical improvements, he can soon regain his rhythm.
‘Old bowling videos should be shown’
Murali Karthik said that the spin bowling coach of the Indian team should show old videos of Bishnoi, so that he can be reminded what was the reason for his success earlier.
In this context, Karthik said,
‘The spin coach can show him what he used to do earlier. By showing their old videos they can be brought back to the same mental state. It will depend on how quickly he adopts it, but technically it should not be too difficult.

‘No one has replaced Bumrah and Malinga’
Karthik believes that one should not try to completely change the natural style of a bowler. Giving the example of Jasprit Bumrah and Lasith Malinga, he said that this was their biggest strength.
Karthik said that if any biomechanics expert had tried to completely change Bumrah, he would not have been Bumrah today. The same thing applies to Malinga.
Difficulty explained by giving example of Sunil Narine
Karthik said that it is not easy to make major changes in the bowling action. Giving the example of West Indies star spinner Sunil Narine, he said that it took a long time for him to regain his old rhythm after changing the action.
Example of Rashid Khan also given
Karthik said that there is scope for improvement in every bowler’s game. Referring to the unique bowling style of Afghanistan’s star spinner Rashid Khan, he said that every player has his own unique identity.
He also expressed confidence that Ravi Bishnoi can also make a strong comeback by learning from his mistakes. According to Karthik, Bishnoi also worked on getting his balls to turn more in the last season, so that he does not become a bowler who depends only on googlies.
