Suns Sign Pat Spencer to Two-Way Contract

The Phoenix Suns have signed free-agent guard Pat Spencer to a two-way NBA contract, adding experienced backcourt depth ahead of the 2026-27 season. The deal was first reported by ESPN’s Shams Charania and has since been confirmed by multiple outlets.

Spencer arrives in Phoenix after spending the past three seasons with the Golden State Warriors, where he steadily developed from a fringe player into a reliable rotation guard. During the 2025-26 campaign, he appeared in 66 games, making 14 starts, and averaged 7.2 points, 3.5 assists, and 2.4 rebounds in 18.6 minutes per game. He shot 42.7% from the field, 35.7% from three-point range, and 77.2% from the free-throw line, all career-best marks.

Originally a standout collegiate lacrosse player before transitioning to basketball, Spencer has become one of the NBA’s most remarkable late-blooming success stories. His strong decision-making, defensive intensity, and playmaking ability earned him increased minutes with the Warriors, particularly during the second half of last season.

The Suns view Spencer as a valuable addition to their guard rotation alongside Devin Booker. His versatility and experience provide Phoenix with another dependable ball-handler while also strengthening the team’s depth heading into training camp. Because the deal is a two-way contract, Spencer is expected to split time between the NBA roster and the Suns’ G League affiliate when needed.

The signing also marks the end of Spencer’s stint with Golden State, where he became a fan favorite thanks to his relentless effort and steady improvement. With Phoenix continuing to reshape its roster this offseason, the Suns hope Spencer can carve out a meaningful role and continue the upward trajectory of his NBA career.
