Distribution of Meri Rasoi ration kits further intensified, 21.29 lakh families covered so far

Punjab News: Punjab Government has intensified its ongoing ration kit distribution drive ‘Meri Rasoi’ with a view to ensure nutritional security for vulnerable families, benefitting approximately 21.29 lakh families. The objective of this campaign is to provide ration kits to a total of 40.48 lakh eligible families across Punjab after every quarter (3 months).

Under this important initiative, under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and active monitoring of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Lal Chand Kattaruchak, ration is being distributed on mission mode, with 80,000 to 85,000 kits being delivered daily to the beneficiaries from the designated centres.

It is noteworthy that under this initiative, every eligible family is provided a ration kit, which has been prepared keeping in mind the essential food needs of the household. This includes two kilos of pulses, two kilos of sugar, one kilo of salt, 200 grams of turmeric powder and one liter of mustard oil for monthly consumption. These food kits are being provided in addition to the wheat already being distributed to eligible beneficiaries under the National Food Security Act, 2013.

Ration kits are prepared by Markfed, while the Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs monitors the distribution network across the state.

Of the 21.29 lakh ration kits distributed so far, Ludhiana leads with 229,555 kits, Patiala at second place with 156,402, Sangrur at third place with 136,430 kits, Fazilka at fourth place with 121,647 while border district Tarn Taran with 121,589 ration kits distributed. Is in fifth place. Apart from this, 118,579 ration kits were distributed in Amritsar, 114,105 in Bathinda, 109,045 in Sri Muktsar Sahib, 105,379 in Jalandhar, 86,710 in Hoshiarpur, 80,591 kits in Mansa, 80,344 in Gurdaspur, 78,404 in Ferozepur, 71,238 kits in Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, 71,097 in Fatehgarh Sahib, 69,210 in Moga, 68,627 in Kapurthala, 60,937 in Faridkot, 59,667 in Barnala, 58,737 in Pathankot, 50,906 in Rupnagar, Malerkotla. 40,988 and 38,838 ration kits have been distributed in Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar.

The aim of this initiative is to deliver essential proteins, cooking oil and spices etc. along with grains to the kitchens of eligible beneficiaries so that the families covered under the scheme can get complete nutritious food.

The distribution is being actively monitored to ensure transparency, prevention of adulterated goods and delivery to every needy home. The district administration, Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department and local authorities are working in perfect coordination to ensure the success of this profitable venture.

This scheme is a direct proof of the commitment of the state government to ensure that no eligible family is deprived of food security.
