Australia again proves its supremacy, defeats England and becomes Women’s T20 World Cup champion for record seventh time

New Delhi . In the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, Australia once again created history by proving its supremacy. In the final match played at the prestigious Lord’s ground in London, the Australian team defeated host England by seven wickets and achieved the honor of becoming World Champion for the record seventh time. The Australian team, which was undefeated in the entire tournament, gave a balanced performance in the finals and won the title.

England, batting first, scored 150 runs at the loss of four wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. The opening batsmen were not successful in making big partnerships, but captain Nat Sciver-Brunt took the responsibility and played a brilliant inning of 58 not out. He hit five fours in his innings and played an important role in taking the team to a respectable score.

Freya Kemp also displayed aggressive batting in the middle order. He scored unbeaten 44 runs in 28 balls and hit four fours and a six. There was an unbeaten partnership of 80 runs for the fifth wicket between the two batsmen, which put England in a strong position. However, the team’s total score could not prove challenging in front of a strong batting unit like Australia.

Chasing the target of 151 runs, the start of the Australian team was not as expected and they lost the first wicket in the opening over. After this, Phoebe Lichfield and Beth Mooney showed a great mix of composure and aggression and completely changed the course of the match. Both the batsmen ended all chances of England’s comeback by making an important partnership of 100 runs for the second wicket.

Phoebe Lichfield scored 48 runs in 35 balls, which included six fours and two sixes. At the same time, experienced batsman Beth Mooney once again proved her worth in a big match and played a brilliant inning of 64 runs in 49 balls. His innings included 10 fours. After Mooney’s dismissal, Alice Perry and Ashley Gardner ensured victory by taking the team to the target without any pressure.

Australia’s performance in bowling was also balanced. Four different bowlers of the team did not give England’s batsmen a chance to play freely by taking one wicket each. England failed to make big partnerships due to getting wickets at regular intervals and could only reach 150 runs in the stipulated overs.

  • With this victory, Australia further strengthened its dominance in the Women’s T20 World Cup. The team has won the title of this prestigious tournament several times before and finished the 2026 campaign without losing any match. The team’s performance in all three departments, batting, bowling and fielding, was very impressive throughout the tournament. This victory in the final became another strong example of Australia’s consistency, depth and ability to perform well in big matches in women’s cricket.
