Director Breaks Silence Finally: Famous actor Diljit Dosanjh’s film ‘Sutlej’ has become a topic of discussion these days in the film industry and across the country. After going through the censor process and legal battle for almost three years, the film was released on OTT platform ZEE5 on 3 July 2026, but just two days later on 5 July, it was removed from there. However, ZEE5 did not give any specific reason for removing it. Now the film’s director Honey Trehan has spoken about this controversy for the first time and he has openly told who had problems with the film ‘Sutlej’ and why.
Who had problem with the film ‘Sutlej’?
While talking to the media, director Honey Trehan said that he is sad that the film is not coming in theatres, but is happy that the audience is able to see it in its original form. He clarified that only the name of the film has been changed, there was no compromise in the story.
Honey Trehan further said, ‘If someone asks me who had any problem with this film, to be honest, I myself don’t know. Neither any face nor any name appeared in front of me. Whatever objections or opposition we received, they all came through lawyers or some third person. He also revealed that there came a time when all avenues of communication with the Censor Board were closed. When everything came to a halt, ZEE5 came forward and released the film without any cuts.

About the film ‘Sutlej’
This film is based on the real life of human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalda. He raised the issue of human rights violations by investigating the cremation of more than 25,000 unidentified bodies in Punjab between 1984 and 1994. The lead role in the film is played by Diljit Dosanjh, while Arjun Rampal, Kanwaljit Singh, Suvinder Vicky and Geetika Vidya Ohlyan are also in important roles. Currently, this film is not available in India, but it can be watched abroad on ZEE5.
