Pakistan Terrorist Attack: A check post of a dam project was attacked on Tuesday in Pakistan’s restive southwestern Balochistan Province. Officials said gunmen killed nine policemen and several others were missing. Senior District Officer Abdul Quddus said that ‘nine policemen have been killed and many are missing after the attack on a check post guarding the Mangi Dam Project’. A spokesperson for the provincial government confirmed the numbers. He said that senior officers of many police stations were among the dead. He blamed Islamic terrorists for this attack.

Balochistan government spokesperson Shahid Rind said in a statement that paramilitary forces, police and counter-terrorism personnel have “successfully conducted joint operations” against the terrorists. Pakistan has been battling a separatist insurgency in Balochistan for years. This mineral-rich province shares borders with Afghanistan and Iran. Here terrorists target state forces and foreign investment and infrastructure projects.
