Azam Khan’s troubles increase again: Court will give big verdict on July 18 in the case of ‘instigation against officers’

Rampur. The political and legal troubles of Samajwadi Party’s strong leader Mohammad Azam Khan in Rampur are not showing any sign of abating. Once again he seems to be trapped in a legal whirlpool. The arguments in the Sessions Court of Rampur in the case of allegedly giving inflammatory speeches against officials during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections have been completed. The court has reserved its decision after hearing the arguments of both the parties. Now all eyes are on July 18, when the court will give its big verdict in this case.

Actually, this entire matter is related to the controversial statements made by Azam Khan against the administrative officials. Azam Khan was acquitted by the lower court in this case, but this decision was challenged in the sessions court. During the hearing held on Tuesday, complainant and Aam Aadmi Party leader Faisal Khan Lala was also present in the court.

What is Azam Khan inflammatory speech case?

The roots of the case are related to the general elections of 2019. A case was registered against Azam Khan on 2 April 2019 in Rampur city police station. It is alleged that Azam Khan had crossed the limits of decorum while addressing a public meeting at the SP office in Rampur on March 29, 2019. A video of this speech also went viral on social media.

According to complainant Faisal Khan Lala, in his speech, Azam Khan was instigating the public against the then District Magistrate of Rampur Anjaneya Kumar Singh (who is currently the Divisional Commissioner of Moradabad) and many other top officials.

‘Officials strangled the weak with acid’

It is being told that Azam Khan had used very harsh and serious words in his speech. On the basis of the video, it was mentioned in the police charge sheet that Azam Khan had said that these officers want to bathe Rampur with blood. Not only this, he had made serious allegations against the officers and said that in all the districts where they have been posted, they have tried to incinerate people from weaker sections by pouring acid on them.

After this statement there was an uproar in the politics of Rampur. The administration, showing promptness, had registered an FIR against Azam Khan under several serious sections including violation of the Election Code of Conduct and the Public Representation Act. The police investigated the case closely and filed a charge sheet in the court.

Why is there a problem after being acquitted by the lower court?

The long hearing of this high-profile case took place in the MP-MLA Special Court (Magistrate Trial) of Rampur. After this legal drama that lasted for about 6 years, on 18 December 2025, the court gave a big relief to Azam Khan. Then the court had accepted that there was not enough evidence against Azam and he was acquitted due to lack of evidence.

But the twist in the story came when Aam Aadmi Party state spokesperson Faisal Khan Lala did not accept the decision of the lower court. He filed an appeal against the decision in the MP-MLA Special Court (Sessions Trial). Now the lawyers of both the sides have presented their arguments in the sessions court. After heated debate in the court room, the judge has reserved the decision. This decision on July 18 will decide whether the relief given to Azam Khan from the lower court will remain intact or his troubles are going to increase once again.
