Google Backup Rule- Google has changed the rules of Android Backup, know complete details
Friends, if you are an Android phone user then there is a big news for you, recently Google has made a big change for Android users, which will affect your 15 GB free storage, from July 7, all Android backup data will now be counted in 15 GB free Google account storage. Earlier, only files like photos and videos saved in Google Photos took up most of this storage, but now backups like SMS, call history, app data and device settings will also be included in it, let’s know the complete details.
Google’s new Android backup policy
Google has updated the way you save Android backups to your Google Account.
Under the new policy:
Android backup data will now use your Google account storage.
This change is coming into effect from July 7.
All users with a free Google account get 15GB of cloud storage combined with Google Drive, Gmail, and Google Photos.
Since Android backups are now also included, the available storage may decrease faster than before.
Which data will count in storage?
SMS and MMS messages
call history
device settings
app data
Wi-Fi passwords and preferences
Other Android Backup Information
This means that your Google account’s storage will now be divided between Gmail, Google Drive, Google Photos, and Android Backup.
Google adds more backup controls
Along with the policy update, Google is also giving users more control to decide what to back up.
Users can now turn backups on or off for:
SMS and MMS messages
call history
device settings
Other Backup Categories
These options are available in the Google Backup section in Android device settings, allowing users to better manage storage.
Will your storage fill up quickly?
Many users are concerned that this change will use up a large portion of their free storage, but Google says its impact will be minimal.
According to a Google spokesperson:
The average Android backup is expected to use approximately 40MB of additional Google account storage.
Most users won’t immediately notice any significant reduction in available space.
However, users who have limited free storage should regularly monitor their backup usage.
