Delhi: Pakistan cricket team’s star batsman Babar Azam can once again become the captain of the country’s T20 team. According to reports, Pakistan Cricket Board is seriously considering handing over the captaincy to Babar Azam again in view of the upcoming tours and tournaments.

According to Pakistani media reports, PCB is preparing to change the leadership in the shortest format after reviewing the recent performance of the team. If the board approves this decision, then Babar Azam will replace the current T20 captain Salman Ali Aga, who is taking over the captaincy during the period of change of the team.

After Test, now it’s the turn of T20 captaincy

Although, no official statement or confirmation has been made by the PCB yet, but the report claims that Babar Azam is leading in the race to become the captain in view of the team’s upcoming matches and preparations for ICC tournaments.

Babar Azam has captained the Pakistan team in all three formats before and his record in the T20 format has been quite excellent. Under his captaincy, Pakistan team reached the semi-finals of the 2021 T20 World Cup, while the team was the runner-up in the 2022 T20 World Cup. Babar has one of the best win percentage among Pakistan’s T20 captains.

The report also says that even if there is a change in captaincy, current captain Salman Ali Aga will remain an important part of the team, because the board likes his role in the team very much.
