How does the WTC points table look after West Indies’ series win over Sri Lanka?

Roston Chase and his West Indian side beat Sri Lanka in the two-match Test series by a 1-0 margin. The second game of the campaign ended in a draw at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua on Tuesday. The hosts had won the opening game of the series at the same venue by an innings and 217 runs.

With this win, the Caribbean side are still in the eighth position with 20 points from 10 games and a win percentage of 16.67. Pakistan is last in the table with an 8.33-win percentage, with just one win from four games. Incidentally, Babar Azam and his team are set to tour the West Indies next for two tests, with the first game slated to begin on 25th July.

Sri Lanka have slide to the sixth spot with 20 points from four games and have a win percentage of 41.67 after four games. Shubman Gill and his Indian side are fifth in the table with 52 points from nine games. Both sides face each other in a two-match series starting on 15th August, to be hosted by Sri Lanka.

Australia and South Africa are placed at one and two respectively, while New Zealand are third in the table. Tom Latham’s side recently became the first side in over 13 years to beat England in their own backyard in a three-match Test series. Bangladesh, who beat Pakistan 2-0 at home, are fourth in the latest WTC points table.

Greatest achievement as a West Indian player – Roston Chase

Speaking after the 1-0 series win, West Indian skipper Chase was happy about the win. The 34-year-old said, “This win means a lot; it is my greatest achievement as a West Indian player. It was brilliant to win a Test series against Sri Lanka after 23 years.

The veteran star also added, “It’s just a magnificent feeling to come and stand up for the team as a captain and not only try to inspire and motivate you guys, but to go out there and actually do the hard yards for the team.”

Justin Greaves was named the player of the match and player of the series for his 183 runs and four wickets. Greaves scored 180 runs in the second Test and also added 242 runs with Shai Hope for the fifth wicket.
