There is no hurry to use E25 fuel in vehicles, Hardeep Singh Puri told what is the government’s plan?

Hardeep Singh Puri on E25 Fuel: Amidst the ongoing discussions regarding blending of ethanol in petrol, Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri on Tuesday clarified that the government is in no hurry to implement E25 fuel at present. He said that tests regarding E25 are going on and further decisions will be taken only after their results are received. Also, the government will discuss with all concerned parties including automobile companies.

Speaking to the media, Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said that India has been using E15 fuel for the last three and a half years, while E20 was implemented from April 2025. He said that it has been more than a year since E20 was implemented and even after that several months have passed.

Government update on E25 fuel

Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Said that if someone is saying that India is going to move to E25 soon, then it is not correct. The government is currently conducting various tests on E25 and these tests will take time. Once the test reports come in they will be evaluated and then discussed with all stakeholders, especially automobile manufacturers. He further said that the government will also give importance to the opinion of vehicle manufacturers in this matter. He said that I neither make cars nor fuel. Therefore, after completion of the trials, discussions will be held with all concerned parties including automobile companies.

Social media claims rejected

The Union Minister said that at present the vehicle manufacturers are completely comfortable with E20 fuel and consumers have also accepted it. Whereas E85 fuel has been introduced on a limited scale and its expansion will take some time, as new petrol pumps and necessary infrastructure are being developed for it. He also rejected the videos going viral on social media, in which it is being claimed that vehicles are breaking down due to change in fuel. He said that such reports are misleading and facts are being misrepresented. People should not believe in such rumours.

Natural gas discovery in Andaman

Meanwhile speaking at an event Hardeep Singh Puri Also described the gas discovery in Andaman region as a big achievement for India’s energy sector. He said that natural gas has been discovered in two of the three exploration wells, which is not just a new gas discovery but a historic step towards energy self-reliant India. He said that the more the country’s domestic energy production capacity increases, the less will be its dependence on foreign imports. This will strengthen India’s energy security and will also give new strength to the economy.
