Conditions indicate that the region is heading towards another widespread war: Wael Awwad!

The situation has again become tense in Middle East Asia since early Wednesday. Both the US and Iran have accused each other of ceasefire violations. Dr. Wael Awwad, a foreign journalist who reports on issues in Southeast Asia and Central Asia, while speaking to IANS, highlighted some points of the agreement.

According to Awwad, “This is a major step to escalate tensions on the part of the US, which could lead to Iran retaliating against US military bases, especially those located in Kuwait and Bahrain.”

He mentioned in it that a 14-point agreement has been signed between US-Iran. The first point of this agreement provides for stopping the activities, which also includes Lebanon.

Awwad also took the name of Israel in this entire episode. Said that when the US President could not persuade Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to end the occupation of southern Lebanon and stop attacks on Lebanese targets, he adopted the strategy of provoking Iran in Hormuz.

Dr. Awwad said Article 4 of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) clearly mentions that Iran will be responsible for the safety and navigation of ships in that part of the Strait of Hormuz. He said that Iran and Oman have been monitoring the region till now, but the US is provoking Iran to change the navigation route, and this is the reason for the current developments.

He said, “This is a clear indication that the US is not able to abide by its commitments to this agreement. According to him, this is a very tense development and the situation may become more serious in the coming days. This development happened at a time when President Donald Trump attended the NATO summit in Ankara.”

According to him, this indicates that America wants to involve NATO countries also in monitoring Hormuz and confronting Iran.

According to Dr. Awwad, America cannot solve this problem on its own because Iran has complete control over the Strait of Hormuz. Therefore America has decided to move forward with NATO forces.

He said that the next two to three months before the completion of the 60-day deadline of this agreement are very important for the entire region. According to him, “the current situation indicates that the region may be heading towards a more widespread war.”
