Central government employees are currently waiting for Dearness Allowance (DA) for the months of July to December. It is assumed that the inflation allowance will increase by 3%. This increase is likely to be for the period of July to December. Going by the current trend, the government may announce a hike in inflation allowance around Navratri. This year Navratri falls in October, so central government employees can get salary hike on 31st October.

All eligible central government employees will also get arrears for the months of July, August and September. It is worth noting that the current Dearness Allowance for Central Government employees is 60%. A 3% increase will increase the allowance of employees to 63%.
Why is inflationary allowance likely to increase by 3%?
Bankbazaar CEO Adhil Shetty explained the current situation, “As per the AICPI-IW trend so far, a 3% increase in inflation allowance is most likely. However, the final change will depend on the June AICPI-IW data. Although this increase may seem small, it helps to protect the purchasing power of employees from the impact of inflation and provide some relief to the family budget. Till then, this estimate is only an indicator, not a final figure.”
When will the figures be released?
The Ministry of Statistics and Program Implementation (MoSPI) is expected to release the All India Consumer Price Index (CPI) and inflation data for June 2026 on Monday, July 13. If these estimates turn out to be true, the dearness allowance of central employees will increase by 3%.
The government usually reviews overall inflation figures and current economic factors. Only then, after the approval of the Cabinet, the revisions in inflation allowance are announced. Once approved, the revised allowances will be effective from July 1.

Meanwhile, the Eighth Pay Commission has started the process of submitting its recommendations to the government regarding central government employees. The Pay Commission is required to submit its recommendations to the government within 18 months.
