Under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY), the government provides 5 kg free ration per person every month. In such a situation, the eligible beneficiaries are required to follow the rules made by the National Food Security Act (NFSA). If any member of your family was covered under the ration card and has died, but the name is still not removed from the ration card and the family is taking full benefits, then it is illegal. How to remove name online?
If a ration card holding member of your household has died and you want to remove his/her name from the ration card, then follow these easy methods.
- You can update the ration card by visiting the official website of the Food and Civil Supplies Department.
- To start the application, first log in to the website with your registered mobile number.
- After logging in, select the option of ‘Member Deletion’ or ‘Ration Card Update’ visible on the screen.
- After this, fill in the form all the necessary information related to the member who has died.
- Select the option of ‘Death’ for the reason for removing the name.
Now upload the scanned photo of the death certificate of the deceased member on the website. - After doing all this, submit your application finally.
Once submitted, you will get an application number, which you should keep with you for future reference.
How to get name removed offline?
- If there is no online facility, you can easily apply offline.
- For this you will have to go to your nearest food supply office or ration dealer.
- Go there and take the form for removal of name from the ration card and prepare a written application.
- Attach a photocopy of the death certificate and ration card of the deceased member along with the form.
- Submit all the necessary documents there.
- After submitting the documents, do not forget to take the receipt from there.
