From chips to ships, India continues to build a strong manufacturing ecosystem!
Addressing the Indian community in Melbourne, Australia, the Prime Minister said that the journey that started with a few hundred startups in India has now reached more than 2 lakh registered startups. More than 4,000 new startups are being started every month in the country.
Praising the youth of India, he said that due to their hard work and innovation, India has today become the third largest startup ecosystem in the world.
The Prime Minister said that the growth of startups is no longer limited to only big metros, but has expanded to almost every district of the country.
He said that today hundreds of startups are working in cutting-edge areas like defense and space. He said that soon an Indian space startup is preparing to launch its satellite with its own rocket.
Referring to future plans, PM Modi said that India is also moving rapidly towards the Gaganyaan mission and its own space station.
He said that the strongest foundation of India’s big dreams and high aspirations is the people of the country. The mantra of ‘We the People’ and ‘Nagarik Devo Bhava’ has today become the guiding principle of good governance of the country.
Referring to India’s action against terrorism, the Prime Minister said, “During Operation Sindoor, explosions were taking place at terrorist hideouts and their echo was heard by the entire world.”
Recalling his first visit to Australia in 2014, the Prime Minister said that it was the first visit of an Indian Prime Minister to Australia after 28 years. At that time he had told the Indian community that they would not have to wait another 28 years for the next visit.
He said, “This is my third visit to Australia in the last 12 years. In a way, it is a hat-trick. It represents new heights in India-Australia relations. And the biggest credit for this goes not to me, but to all you Indians. The Indian diaspora has played the biggest role in strengthening the relations between the two countries.”
On reaching Melbourne, Prime Minister Modi was warmly welcomed by the Indian community with slogans of ‘Modi-Modi’ and ‘Vande Mataram’.

During this, the Prime Minister also saw many cultural presentations. These included a unique musical combination of the ancient musical instrument Didgeridoo of Australia’s tribal community and India’s Tabla, a 10-member symphony orchestra presentation of ‘Maa Tujhe Salaam’ and Kathak dance.
“The ancient didgeridoo of Australia and the wonderful music of the tabla of India are a wonderful symbol of the deep cultural ties between the two countries,” the Prime Minister said.
