Police has taken major action in the case of gang rape of a minor and making objectionable video viral in Siwan district of Bihar. As soon as the complaint was received in the women’s police station, the police arrested the three named accused. The video of the incident has also been recovered from the mobile phones of the accused.
Superintendent of Police Puran Kumar Jha said that on June 28, the victim had gone to the fields for defecation. Meanwhile, three youths from the same village forcibly picked her up, took her to a deserted place and gang-raped her. During the incident, the accused had also made an obscene video of the victim. Later the accused made the video viral on social media.

After the video went viral, the victim’s family reached Mahila Police Station and lodged a complaint. Considering the seriousness of the matter, on the instructions of SP, a special team was formed under the leadership of Maharajganj SDPO. The team conducted a raid on the basis of technical evidence and human information and arrested all three accused.
Video removed from social media
SP said that while examining the mobile phones of the arrested accused, objectionable video of the incident was found. Police took the video into their custody and took action to get the video removed from the relevant social media platforms. He said that scientific and technical evidence is being collected in the case. The medical examination and statement of the victim has also been recorded. The accused have been sent to judicial custody.

Punishment will be given through speedy trial
SP said that this is a very serious matter. The victim is a minor, hence sections of POCSO Act and IT Act have also been added. The police will now start the process of giving strict punishment to the culprits as soon as possible through speedy trial. The investigation of the case is ongoing and other absconding suspects are also being searched. There is anger in the village after this incident. The villagers have demanded strict action against the accused. The police have assured the victim’s family of safety.
