Panchkula Agarwal Sabha elections on August 9, voting after 13 years
The election process has started in Panchkula’s Aggarwal Sabha after 13 years. On August 9, 2,948 members will elect 118 collegium members, who will in turn select the new president and executive of the Sabha.
Panchkula: The process of Panchkula Agarwal Sabha Election 2026 has officially started. Under these elections, which are going to be held after about 13 years, on August 9, the members of the Assembly will elect the collegium. After this, the elected collegium members will form the new president and executive.
Election process started after 13 years
After a long wait, the democratic election process has started in Agarwal Sabha (Registered) of Panchkula. Regular elections are being held for the first time since 2013. During this period, the meeting was managed through administrators and coordinators. Now the members will get the opportunity to elect the new leadership of the organization.
The returning officer has released the election schedule. According to this, voting will be held on August 9, in which 2,948 members of the Assembly will elect 118 collegium members. This collegium will further select the new president and executive of the assembly.
Operation continued through administrator for years
Regular elections could not be held in Aggarwal Sabha after the year 2013. After that time the organization continued to be run by administrators and coordinators appointed at different times. In the year 2013, the then IAS officer Rajkumar Gupta was made the administrator. Later Tejpal Gupta, Balkrishna Bansal and Amit Jindal took over the responsibility as coordinators.
In November 2025, the Haryana government appointed Brijmohan Bedi as the administrator. After about eight months, the election process was started during his tenure, which paved the way for the return of democratic system in the institution.
Aggarwal Sabha has been a leader in social service
Agarwal Sabha, established in the year 1991, is among the major social organizations of Panchkula. The organization conducts many social and public welfare activities from Aggarwal Bhawan located in Sector-16. The Sabha also runs services like physiotherapy centre, free clinics, ambulance service, providing dead body freezer and cremation of unclaimed dead bodies.
In the history of the Sabha, Sadhuram Jain was the first president, while many social workers like Lala Amarnath Agarwal, Kulbhushan Goyal, Shyamlal Bansal, Keshav Ram Gupta, Dr. Naresh Mittal, Balkishan Bansal and Sunil Gupta have also led the organization.
Voting will be held on August 9
As per the election schedule, the nomination process will start from July 24 and applications will be accepted till July 28. Scrutiny of nomination papers will take place on July 29, while candidates will be able to withdraw their names on July 30 and 31. The final list of eligible candidates will be released on August 2.
Voting will take place on August 9 from 9 am to 4 pm and counting will begin as soon as voting ends. The Returning Officer has appealed to all voters to bring membership card or any valid government photo identity card. No member will be allowed to vote without identity card.
These elections, which are going to be held after about 13 years, are being considered an important step towards democratic participation and selection of new leadership in the Agrawal society. Now all eyes are on the voting to be held on August 9 and its results.
