Donald Trump was kind to Pakistan’s helper Türkiye, took a big decision to remove the stringent restrictions imposed from the year 2020.
Completely overturning the global diplomacy and defense equations, US President Donald Trump has made a very shocking and historic announcement. During an important press conference held in Ankara, Trump made it clear that the United States (USA) is going to completely remove all the stringent economic and military sanctions imposed against Turkey in the year 2020. It is noteworthy that this is the same Türkiye, which is considered the closest strategic partner of Pakistan, which is considered a haven of terrorism on international forums. During the recent ‘Operation Vermillion’ against India, with the help of the deadly drones of Turkey, Pakistan had carried out a nefarious attack on the Indian borders, which was bravely foiled by the Indian Army. Now this decision of America has created panic from South Asia to West Asia. Donald Trump gave this big message to the world by standing shoulder to shoulder with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan during the NATO summit at Turkey’s historic Bestepe Presidential Compound. Trump said, "We are going to officially end the sanctions on Türkiye." However, when the international media asked Trump whether America’s most dangerous fifth generation F-35 stealth fighter jet would be sold to Turkey after the lifting of this ban, Trump did not make any direct promise. He cleverly replied that we will take this decision collectively in the coming days, but he definitely accepted the F-35 as the most accurate and powerful fighter aircraft in the world till date. CAATSA ban was imposed on purchasing S-400 missile defense system from Russia, know the history. Let us tell you that in the year 2020, the then US administration had imposed these strict restrictions on Turkey under the CAATSA law. Turkey had purchased the state-of-the-art S-400 Trump Missile Defense System from Russia, ignoring Washington’s strict warnings. Angered by this deal, the US had thrown Turkey out of its ambitious F-35 Joint Strike Fighter program and imposed sanctions on its military officials. The act, passed by the US Congress in 2017, explicitly bars any country from conducting major defense or intelligence transactions with Russia. Strong opposition to Trump’s decision is possible in the US Parliament (Congress), senators gave an open warning. Even though President Donald Trump seems eager to get Turkey out of this military quagmire, there may be big obstacles in his way in the Washington Parliament. According to US law, any executive decision to lift the ban will have to go through Congressional Review, where lawmakers from both Republican and Democrat parties can raise serious objections to it. Senator Lindsey Graham, considered very close to Trump, has already made it clear that there will be strong opposition to this move in Parliament. Graham clearly said in a conversation with ‘Turkey Today’ newspaper, "There may be huge resentment in Congress regarding this decision, because currently Turkey’s tense relations with Israel are not at all acceptable to American lawmakers."
Erdogan expecting five F-35 fighters; JD Vance and the Pentagon are conducting a legal review. Meanwhile, Turkish President Erdogan has expressed great confidence in Trump’s friendly attitude and expressed hope that Washington will soon give the green signal to the order for his fighter jet. Erdogan claimed in front of the media that President Trump himself had previously promised to provide five state-of-the-art F-35 aircraft to Turkey and he always keeps his word. On the other hand, recently top Pentagon officials led by US Vice President JD Vance and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth are conducting a close legal review of whether Turkey has met the strict security and legal criteria set by the US to acquire F-35 technology.
