Meanwhile, an Indian Premier League match is likely to be played in Australia soon.

According to a report by The Edge, an IPL match could soon be played in Australia and the first Big Bash League match in Chennai this year could become an annual event as cricket becomes a formal platform to strengthen relations between Australia and India. Cricket Australia officials believe that hosting even one BBL match in India would significantly increase fan engagement, viewership and awareness of the tournament and its teams in the world’s largest cricket market.

Although some believe that the arrival of the BBL in India is encroaching on the territory of another major T20 league, the commercial, trade and government relations between the two countries have outweighed any opposition from the IPL. For this reason, CA hopes that BBL matches will become an annual event and IPL matches will be played in Australia as well.
