Before this, PM Modi and Prime Minister Anthony Albanese also clicked selfies. PM Modi shared pictures of the MSG stadium and wrote on social media platform X, “Sports is an important part of the India-Australia partnership, which brings our people closer with common passion and mutual respect.
Sharing pictures of his meeting with the young players, he wrote, “It was great to see the young sports talent playing at the MCG. Watching the children play cricket, kabaddi and Australian rules football was a wonderful reminder that sport has the unique ability to connect people.
External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, “Connected with sports, connected with culture, inspired by great work. Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the historic MCG with PM Anthony Albanese and interacted with Australia’s sporting community. Both PMs had the opportunity to watch local children showcase their skills in exhibition matches.”
He further said that considering sports as an important foundation for enhancing people-to-people ties, the two Prime Ministers welcomed the initiative to broaden sports ties between the two countries and launched the India-Australia Sports Collaboration Roadmap.
