Fine will be imposed on tickets using WhatsApp, know this new rule before starting the train journey.

New Delhi: If you use your mobile while traveling by train to save yourself the hassle of booking a ticket, then this news is very important for you. Often, after booking a ticket, people take a screenshot of it or start traveling by showing the photo of the ticket sent by a family member on WhatsApp. But Indian Railways has now made the rules very strict to prevent digital fraud.

WhatsApp ticket will not be valid

According to the new order of Railways, merely showing WhatsApp message, screenshot, photo or PDF of unreserved digital ticket booked through ‘Rail One App’ will no longer be valid. If you do this during checking, you will be considered without ticket and you can also be fined along with legal action.

Why did Railways take this tough decision?

Railways were continuously coming across such cases where people were taking wrong advantage of digital tickets. A recent incident alerted the railway administration. While checking in the train, a female passenger showed the ticket sent by her brother on WhatsApp. When the TTE investigated it in depth, it was found that the ticket was not live in the mobile through which the journey was being undertaken. Not only this, the trick was caught when it became clear that the ticket was booked after the train left the station. After this fraud, Railways immediately imposed fine and increased the strictness by clarifying the rules again.

attempt to commit fraud

Many people tried to commit fraud by sharing screenshots of the same ticket on different mobile phones, due to which it became difficult to identify real and fake tickets. For this reason, Railways has now made only ‘Original Live Digital Ticket’ mandatory.

What are the new rules?

  • If you are traveling by booking a general or unreserved ticket through ‘Rail One App’, then keep these things in mind.
  • The ticket should appear live only in the ‘Rail One App’ of the mobile phone from which it has been booked.
  • The app must be logged in with the same mobile number that was used at the time of booking. Any photo or screenshot of the same will not be accepted.

Book tickets before boarding station

Digital unreserved ticket should be booked before the departure of the train from your boarding station. If you have booked a ticket through the app after the train has left the station, it will be considered invalid even though it is visible in the app. Along with Live Digital Ticket, you must have a government original photo identity card such as Aadhaar Card, PAN Card or Driving License.

the journey will become easier

The digital age has definitely made traveling easier, but a little carelessness on your part can spoil the fun of travelling. Railways has advised that before starting the journey, keep your phone sufficiently charged so that the phone is not found switched off at the time of checking. Even if you do not have internet, the ticket should be pre-loaded by going to the ‘Show Ticket’ option in the app.
