Jason Holder, Russell Powers Knight Riders to Narrow Win Against Unicorns

A brilliant spell from Jason Holder and Andre Russell has set up the Los Angeles Knight Riders to post an 11-run victory against Unicorns.

Jason Holder’s four-wicket haul and Andre Russell’s three-wicket haul have guided the Knight Riders to a nail-biting victory at Dallas. By this win, the Los Angeles Knight Riders secured a second position in the MLC 2026 points table.

Choosing to bat first, LAKR’s Colin Munro and Andre Fletcher opened the innings while Aaron Hardie opened the bowling attack.

The openers made a decent start, scoring 34 runs for the first wicket. Haris Rauf bagged the first wicket, dismissing Andre Fletcher for 15 runs.

With Colin Munro and Andre Russell at the crease, LAKR scored 46 runs in the power play. Russell added a quick 18-ball 40 before being dismissed by Ghulam Mudassar.

Munro smashed his half-century before being dismissed by Matthew Short. Xavier Bartlett bagged the wicket of Powell while Jason Holder and Saif Badar lost their wickets to Haris Rauf.

Meanwhile, Matthew Tromp added 28-ball 49 runs and Jahmar Hamilton’s 13* runs, Los Angeles Knight Riders scored 184 runs in their 20-over innings. Haris Rauf bagged three wickets while Xavier Bartlett bagged two wickets.

Chasing the 185-run target, Lhuan-dre Pretorius and Finn Allen opened the innings while Ali Khan opened the bowling attack.

Holder bagged the first wicket, dismissing Finn Allen for 1 run, while Holder bagged the wicket of Pretorius for 18 runs.

With Holder bagging the wicket of Sanjay Krishnamurthi (4), Andre Russell bagged the wicket of Aaron Hardie (1).

However, Hassan Khan and Hammad Azam forged a partnership as San Francisco Unicorns scored 60 runs in the power play.

The duo forged a 66-run partnership for the 5th wicket. Hasan Khan scored 45 runs off 33 deliveries before Lloyd Pope was sent back to the dugout.

With Jason Holder bagging the wicket of Hammad Azam for 40 runs on an lbw, Russell completed the rest of the work, dismissing Brody Couch and Haris Rauf cheaply as San Francisco Unicorns got bowled out for 173 runs in the final over.

Jason Holder bagged four wickets while Andre Russell bagged three wickets, triggering the Unicorns’ batting collapse.

Jason Holder was named the player of the match. Speaking on the post-match presentation, Holder said, “We know the power they possess at the top. Finn, Pretorius and Shorty. Players who take the game away in the powerplay. Important that we got off to a good start. We didn’t have our big king – Narine today, someone had to step up.”
