Alia Bhatt has spoken out about the devastating floods in Assam, and she did not hold back about how troubling the situation is.
Taking to Instagram Stories on Tuesday, the 33-year-old actress urged her followers to step up and support relief efforts, while also expressing something that clearly weighs on her.
“Right now, floods are affecting so many parts of our country with Assam being among the hardest hit, facing an incredibly challenging time,” she wrote.
The Highway actor also put the scale of the crisis into plain words. “More than 60 lives have been lost. Lakhs of people have been displaced. Entire families have lost their homes, their land, their livestock… and for some, even the people they love. It happens every year and it still catches us off guard.”
She also promised to share specific ways people can help over the coming days, pointing to organisations working on the ground. She ended her note with the hashtag #CircleOfHope.
Bhumi Pednekar has also been using her platform to raise awareness, sharing videos showing the scale of displacement and the rising death toll across flood-hit districts.

While superstar Salman Khan, through his organization Being Human, is carrying out relief efforts for the flood victims, providing them with essential items and food, also has plans to help rebuild schools and other buildings.
The situation on the ground is serious. Twenty-five of Assam’s 35 districts have been affected, with 66 deaths reported as of Saturday.
Nearly five lakh people remain affected in just two districts, Sibsagar and Charaideo, with close to 15,000 taking shelter in relief camps.
On the work front, Alia was last seen in Alphawhich did not perform as well as expected at the box office.
She has Love & War with Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal coming up, and has also been announced as part of Tumbbad 2 alongside Sohum Shah.
