Mumbai: Actor Kirti Kulhari has reportedly fallen victim to a cyber fraud, allegedly losing ₹2.4 lakh in an online scam.
Following the incident, the actor approached the Mumbai Police and lodged a complaint, prompting an investigation into the alleged financial fraud.
According to reports, unidentified cybercriminals gained unauthorised access to her mobile phone and credit card, allegedly siphoning off ₹2,43,852 within minutes.
A case has been registered at Amboli Police Station based on Kirti’s complaint.
According to the FIR, the actor received an alert about an unauthorised transaction of $2,525 on her credit card while she was at a cinema in Andheri West. She immediately contacted her bank’s customer care helpline after receiving the alert.
The bank’s investigation reportedly found that four unauthorised transactions had been carried out using Kirti’s credit card, following which the card was immediately blocked as a precaution.
The actor told the police that she had never shared her credit card password with anyone. Investigators suspect that her mobile phone and card details may have been compromised through malware or spyware.
Based on her complaint, Amboli Police have registered a case against unidentified persons, while the Cyber Cell is tracing the accused using bank records and digital footprints.
