Punjab Congress: As soon as Baghel returned, the dispute in Punjab Congress increased again, instead of stopping, the tussle over leadership intensified.

Despite efforts to resolve the long-running internal conflict in Punjab Congress, the controversy does not seem to be stopping (Punjab Congress). Even after several rounds of meetings and talks with leaders, differences within the organization have started coming to the fore. Due to this, new questions are being raised regarding the unity of the party before the assembly elections.

Former Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh Bhupesh Baghel Had reached Punjab on a five-day tour and had continuous discussions with many senior party leaders. However, after his return, the rhetoric between the two groups has once again intensified, due to which new discussions have started in political circles.

Meeting with 92 leaders, still no solution found Punjab Congress

The Congress leadership had handed over the responsibility of resolving the ongoing dispute in Punjab Congress to Bhupesh Baghel. He held different rounds of meetings with about 92 leaders in Chandigarh. An effort was made to reach an agreement between the faction of State President Amarinder Singh Raja Vading and former Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi. However, even after the meetings, the Channi group remained firm on its demand.

Channi group adamant on demand of removal of Vadding

Many leaders including Charanjit Singh Channi and senior leader Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa reiterated the demand for removal of state president Raja Vading from the post. In response to this, Bhupesh Baghel made it clear that Raja Wadding will remain the President of Punjab Congress.

He said that some leaders have put forth their suggestions and doubts, which will be placed before the party high command. He also said that efforts will be made to give proper representation to all the leaders.

As soon as Baghel returned, the rhetoric intensified again.

After Bhupesh Baghel returned to Chhattisgarh, the controversy again came to the fore. Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa said that political parties have to change their decisions according to the circumstances. He also said that the party needs strong leadership to win the 2027 elections.

Raja Vading also replied

After Randhawa’s statement, State President Amarinder Singh Raja Wadding also retaliated (Punjab Congress). He said that if he had been a compromiser, Randhawa would not have worked with him for so long.

Raja Wadding also said that there should be no place for compromised leaders and sleeper cells in Congress. Without naming anyone, he indicated that leaders who are in touch with opposition parties should not have a place in the party.

At present, the Congress high command has not given any indication of changing the state president. In such a situation, Raja Vading will remain in his post. On the other hand, Channi group (Punjab Congress) does not seem to be backing down from its demands. In the coming days, the party leadership may try to strike a balance between the two sides and maintain organizational unity before the elections.
