While the monsoon has been completely kind across the country, it has also brought catastrophic rains in many areas. The most dire situation is in Assam, where lakhs of people are affected by waterlogging and floods and more than 70 people have lost their lives. Meanwhile, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a special weather bulletin for July 30, predicting further worsening of the situation in central India and western states. Cyclonic system of weather: ‘Deep Depression’ moving at a speed of 15 km/hour According to meteorologists, the ‘Deep Depression’ over North Interior Odisha and adjoining Chhattisgarh is moving towards the west at a speed of about 15 km per hour. This weather system was centered near Central Chhattisgarh and North Odisha, which will move through Chhattisgarh and East Madhya Pradesh in the next 24 hours. Due to this strong weather system, the weather is going to be very bad in large parts of the country on July 30. Warning of ‘extremely heavy rainfall’ in MP and Maharashtra IMD has issued a severe warning of extremely heavy rainfall in parts of West Madhya Pradesh and Central Maharashtra on July 30. More than 21 cm of rain is expected in these areas. Due to this, there is a danger of waterlogging in low-lying areas, landslides and rapid rise in the water level of rivers. The administration has advised people not to leave their homes unnecessarily. ‘Very heavy rain’ forecast in these 17 states According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rain at isolated places in 17 states and union territories of the country: Central and Western India: East Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Marathwada, Konkan and Goa, Gujarat region and East Rajasthan. North India: Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Punjab. South India: Coastal Karnataka, South Interior Karnataka, Kerala and Mahe and Telangana. Winds will blow at a speed of 50 km/hr, lightning alert. Along with rain, thunderstorms will also continue in many states: Stormy winds (40-50 km/hr): There is a possibility of lightning along with stormy winds in Maharashtra (Vidarbha, Marathwada, Madhya Maharashtra), Konkan-Goa, Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh and Lakshadweep. Strong winds (30-40 km/hr): There is an alert for thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds in Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha, Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir and Uttarakhand. Marine Alert: There will be high waves and strong surface winds along the coastal areas of Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala and Lakshadweep, hence fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea.
